Gary Danielson is a former American football quarterback who played in the NFL from 1976 to 1986. He was born on September 10, 1951, in Hampton, Iowa, and played college football at Purdue University. He was drafted by the Detroit Lions with the 82nd overall pick in the 1976 NFL Draft and played for the team from 1976 to 1979, as well as for the Cleveland Browns from 1981 to 1984 and the Kansas City Chiefs from 1985 to 1986.
After retiring from football, Danielson became a college football commentator and analyst, working for CBS Sports. He has been a mainstay on CBS’s coverage of college football for over two decades and is widely respected for his in-depth analysis and insight. Danielson is also known for his signature phrase, “it’s a touchdown, folks,” which he uses to signal a touchdown has been scored.
